Green events for Africa’s mobility leaders
From the newsletter
A lot of us are at COP29 this week. Sometimes the best events to meet investors, stakeholders, regulators and competitors are not specific to one’s own industry. Most mobility leaders spend more time attending events outside their immediate sector. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the top “green economy” events on and related to the continent.
In the next three months there are 14 high-profile events, including in the African renewables sector, adjacent to mobility, as well as at a global level.
Yesterday we published a list of events specifically focused on the mobility sector in Africa. In case you missed it, please see here.

Our take
No sector is an island, especially not electric mobility. Few Africa-focused investors have so far specialised in the sector. Most look across large parts of the continent's green economy. That means they are more likely to be found at shindigs with wider thematic coverage than just mobility.
A similar point can be made with regards to one of the most important ecosystem factors for mobility. Without availability and growth in renewable energy, an EV would just be a different form of using fossil fuel in transport. When charging sockets feed power from coal-fired power stations, it doesn’t matter that the vehicle itself doesn’t use petrol. Which is why mobility leaders pay such close attention to the renewables sector.
If you are organising a relevant event and we’ve overlooked it, please let us know. We’d be happy to list it.
